Norways’ jagged coastline and enormous coastal fissures (fjords) are so magnificent, you’d be hard-pressed to dream them. Aside from stunning views, the fjords are Norway’s battery-recharge centres, where hiking, kayaking and mountain-biking are just a few of the sickeningly healthy activities in what’s probably the freshest air anywhere. For more urban(e) foxes, Norway’s cities all have their own appeal: Oslo’s elegant cityscape fantastically backdrops the vibrant alfresco social scene in summer and a cosier vibe in wintertime. The western city of Bergen is a great base for fjord-forays, as well as an ancient fishing town, and home to many of Norway’s coolest bands. In the far north, Narvik sits at the Arctic end of the spectacular E6 Northern Fjord Highway, and has fittingly styled itself as Norway’s extreme sports hub.
